Project Manager - Design & Build | FM | Mission Critical - London
Salary TBC - £60,000 - £75,000 | Permanent
This specialist division of a global £350m turnover company, supports clients of all sizes through facilities management and project management / delivery.
The company has a specific requirement for a Project Manager to join the team on a new blue-chip client account starting in 2019.
The type of works could be classed as small works / fit-out type of projects - anything from upgrading and replacing plant to fitting out an entire floor of an office. The Project Manager would be expected to look at the space with the end client, come up with a brief, advise on costs, take through building control, planning, design, liaise with specialists, produce the spec, deal with tendering, suppliers and and take through delivery / building works through to completion. They offer a turnkey solution, so the role would be detailed right down to furniture, FFE etc.
Typical projects are in the region of £50k - £2m. Some are highly technical so might demand more of the project manager's time, but generally the role involves looking after 3-5 projects, works being everything from refurb - fit-out, construction and M&E etc.
The role is almost a combination of 3 types of skill sets. They appreciate that finding someone with all 3 of these is difficult, but hopefully this highlights what the role entails:
Consultancy background - Traditionally very good at client management; discussing the design and what additional things are needed from the design team to meet expectations.
FM - They would definitely understand the culture of working in house with a client. Not just on one job, but would find opportunities within the business and take away and manage these through to an actual concept and build.
Project Manager - Client facing, very good at delivery, must have D&B experience in a live environment. Would be good at delivery. Better if they came from an M&E background (or construction with strong M&E knowledge) or even from a specialist M&E background who has reached Technical Manager status.
·Must be commercially astute
·Integrating with client
·Give the client what they want
·Deal with customer problems
·Be strong on construction knowledge and design
·Particularly strong on Building services and technical (that background would be preferred)
